Fueling Growth with Strategic Marketing

If you want to market your business, it can come in many forms.

Now, many marketers will tell you a whole slew of different ideas, but really, you need one or two of the right strategies to win when you’re small. You can do one of two things.

1. You can start by getting more customers
2. You can increase the value of your current customers

Read closely. If there's one thing I've learned in my decades of marketing experience, it's that nothing—absolutely nothing—moves without a compelling offer. When it comes to sales and marketing, your offer isn't just something to consider; it's the linchpin.

Without a strong offer, even the best copy or the most engaging advertisement won't save you. It’s the difference between mediocrity and wild success.

A Great Offer Has Three Crucial Components:

1. The Core Product/Service: This is what you're actually selling.

3. The Terms: This could be bonuses, guarantees, payment plans, and other elements that make the offer sweeter

Here's a golden nugget for you – always reverse the risk.

That means putting the risk of the transaction back onto YOU, not your customer.

This is done through robust guarantees. "Try it out, and if it's not for you, get every penny back!" By doing this, you're breaking down barriers that may stop a potential customer from pulling the trigger.

On Getting More Customers

There are too many ways to acquire your customers, clients, or patients, and many small business owners get blindsided by this. In my teachings, I like to nurture the relationship with clients for a lifetime. This means people will stay with your product for very long. Hard to get clients but easy to maintain.

Now, in my days, we used a lot of direct mail. We wrote sales letters, created shock and awe packages, and sent them to potential prospects.

Does that still work? Yes. Although it can be expensive.

On Getting More Customers

Here are a few sure ways to get clients today practically for free:

  • Content Creation: If you’re not creating content about your product or services. You’re doomed for good. Perhaps not now, but you will be sooner or later. Your customers taken by the guy down the street or the other guy on platforms such as Youtube, Facebook, TikTok, etc.
  • Reaching Out (Warm & Cold): You can DM (what these young people call direct message) on platforms like Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, & Linkedin. You can also get their email addresses from online directories. Reaching out warm means they’re already your friends on social media, emails, and they’ve given the permission for you to reach out.
  • Email Marketing: Many small business owners never build an email list. It baffles my mind. One of the easiest ways to create more revenue inside your business is to have a list. It not only increases the value of the business, but has returning customers.
  • Networking: Join local business associations or chambers of commerce. Attend local business events, trade shows, and farmers' markets. This will allow you to quickly learn and connect with like-minded individuals, and with their help, you’ll get to your goals faster. You’ll even land a few clients while being there.
  • Word of mouth: If there’s one thing you need to master, it’s mention marketing. Meaning, who’s mentioning you where? Just like you’ve been networking before, you need to get your word of mouth of there. “Oh, Sally is the ads girl,” or “Brian is the copy guy who writes great copy.” You need to build a great mention marketing system that encourages your customers, clients, and patients to refer you. And creating a referral program helps along with that as well.

Now, these are only a few strategies but when applied correctly, they can shake up the biggest goliaths in your industry. You can quickly have an unfair advantage over your competitors, especially if they are bigger than you.

Word of mouth

Word of mouth alone is powerful because not a single person would refer you if their own reputation were not dependent on it.

And, in order to do that, you must have a greater product, a greater brand, and greater marketing for your business. Yes, it may take time, and that’s okay. I have had clients and still do for more than 40 years, and I’ve applied the strategies you’re reading today.
